About the Smiling Sheep
We are Holly and Andrei – and we arrived here some years ago as escapees from hectic city life and instantly fell in love with the area and the little thatched cottage that is now our home. It really is a special place, tucked away in a secluded valley midway between Dartmoor and Exmoor.
The smallholding has over 20 acres in total including nearly 8 acres of lush pasture and a large stretch of deep woodland that we’ve been restoring and revitalising over the last few years.
We keep rare breed sheep (for their wonderful wool) alongside three pet kune-kune pigs, chickens and ducks (for eggs). Our bees live in the woodland and produce the most delicious flower-scented, unadulterated honey.
In the Wool Studio we use the lovely natural fibre fleece from our sheep to make beautiful and unique small rugs, chair cushions and pet blankets.
We also offer opportunities for small groups to come and visit us to say hello to the sheep, discover some traditional woollen crafts and to find out more about smallholding life.
