Our one day courses will run regularly from May 2020, on weekdays and weekends.
Please contact us by email or telephone to confirm availability.
We ask for payment in full at the time of booking, however, a full refund will be made for cancellations more than three days before the course date.
We run two courses: Sheep to Shawl (Spinning) and Sheep to Shawl (Weaving). Both courses start at 10am and finish around 4pm. Courses are not suitable for children under 10 years old.
We cannot offer Bed & Breakfast accommodation on Sheep to Shawl days, however, various local pubs offer good food and accommodation, including:
The Lamb Inn, in Sandford
The New Inn, in Coleford
Bookings for the Linhay can be made with us directly, or on AirBnB. We do ask that guests book a minimum two night stay. Check in is from 3pm on the day of arrival, and check out is by 10am on the day of departure. The Linhay can only accommodate one or two adults, unfortunately it is not suitable for children, babies or dogs.
BY CAR: On confirmation of any booking we will send visitors detailed directions of how to get to us. The Smiling Sheep is located at the end of a rough and rural Devon track. The postman delivers to us every day, but it is sometimes a challenge for cars with a low suspension. With a little notice, we are always happy to collect guests from the layby at the top of the track or from the local (free) village car park in Copplestone.
BY TRAIN OR BUS: A regular train service stops at our local village of Copplestone, on the Tarka line between Exeter and Barnstaple. A regular bus service also runs from Exeter to Copplestone. With a little notice we will happily collect visitors from the station or bus stop.
