Due to the current circumstances, we are not taking bookings for either the Linhay or the Wool Studio. We are, of course, regularly reviewing our position. Should you be interested in making a booking, please feel free to contact us and we will be delighted to keep you personally updated.
Available for £95 per night (which includes a full cooked breakfast for two), the Linhay is your own tranquil little thatched hideaway, perfect for a romantic weekend in the country. It sits away from the main cottage and is a private, quiet space overlooking a little orchard of plum and apple trees.
Have a lie-in (snuggled up under the cosy cotton sheets) before helping yourself to some home baked bread, healthy cereal, fruit juice, milk, butter, jam, honey and marmalade (all either homemade or locally sourced), speciality tea and fresh coffee. When you're ready, we'll deliver the classic English breakfast to your door - sausage, bacon and all the trimmings. Collect the eggs from the chicken coop, if you like. You'll see the hens ranging around the gardens....
For evening meals, there are some great pubs nearby serving lovely food but if you’ve had a long journey, want to stay in front of the log burner (or sip wine on the balcony, for that matter) we can cook you a homemade, 2 course supper. We ask for a little bit of notice (24hrs) and charge from £30 for two. FOOD AT THE LINHAY
The Linhay has won numerous accolades and great reviews. Sawdays has listed the Linhay as a “Special Place” and we were delighted that it was featured by the Daily Telegraph in 2017 as one of the "10 Coolest British B&Bs". In February 2018 it was reviewed in Devon Life magazine and described as “a unique and charming spot which lingers in the memory". We have earned ‘superhost’ status on AirBnB.
Originally built over 300 years ago as a grain store/barn, we’ve renovated it but tried to keep its quirky features and character, including the beautiful original oak flooring.
Inside, it's a cosy space, just big enough for a couple. (Sadly, and although we love them, it’s not a space suitable for children or pets). There’s a sitting area with a log burner and a pair of rocking chairs for reading, listening to the record player (there’s an eclectic choice of old vinyl) or just some companionable dozing. For those who can't do without it - there's also free Wi-Fi. Two pairs of French doors lead out onto a large balcony set up with a table and chairs and views over the orchard – great for alfresco dining.
We’ve installed a proper shower room with a loo and there’s a kitchen area for tea and toast. Up a narrow, spiral staircase is a mezzanine floor just big enough to squeeze a double bed under the beams (mind your head!). Guests are very welcome to use the orchard as their own garden and to wander up to greet the animals.
